Many people dream of building their own perfect home. We are privileged to be in the position where we can help turn those dreams into reality. The examples shown here illustrate the wide variety of new houses the Practice has designed and built for our clients. Large or small, modern or traditional, constructed in stone, brick, or green oak, each home is unique, reflecting the character and aspirations of its owners. There is no single Jackson Architects style. Our designs are shaped by our clients’ desires, not our own preferences.

Finding the right site is often the most challenging part of building a new home. Green field plots are increasingly rare, and experience suggests it can take three to five years to identify an ideal site. While exceptions exist, the most desirable plots are often sold privately, leaving fewer options on the open market. There are numerous pitfalls for the unwary, including development costs, planning restrictions, ground conditions, and other site constraints that can affect feasibility.

We are happy to provide an initial desktop study, based upon the Agents details and images, to advise prospective clients before committing to a purchase. For greater certainty, a detailed site analysis can be undertaken, with fees later credited against the main project.
In some cases, a replacement dwelling, demolishing an existing house and starting anew, can offer a more straightforward path, providing greater certainty of planning approval and reducing the costs of bringing services to the site. Conversely, transforming an existing property through extensions, refurbishment, or multiple additions may be more appropriate. Both approaches are guided by practical economic considerations, including costs and VAT, which we can explain and advise upon.

Once a site is secured, we work closely with you to develop a brief for the new house and shape the design to meet your needs. This is a collaborative process, where ideas are explored, refined, and finalised, ensuring that the resulting home is both functional and uniquely suited to our clients needs.
