NATURAL MATERIALS

We are fortunate to work in a country with a rich heritage of building types, crafted from a wide variety of natural materials; stone, timber, thatch, slate, and lead alongside traditionally manufactured materials such as brick, clay tiles, lime, steel, glass, and cob. Our experience with listed buildings has given us a deep understanding of these materials and how they were used whilst allowing us to explore innovative ways to meet modern requirements.

We take care to express the inherent beauty of each material: the warm, mellow tones of Cotswold limestone, the strength and grain of green oak, the soft texture of lime render, often enhanced when contrasted with the clean lines of steel and glass.
